DR. KARINA AVEYARD
Karina is an Associate Professor at the University of East Anglia in Film and Media. Her academic research and publications have a focus on community and rural cinema exhibition with an emphasis on the social and cultural significance of collective film viewing practices. Prior to completing her PhD in 2012 Karina worked in various roles in the film industry in Australia including in development and production for Columbia TriStar and the Film Finance Corporation, and in research and policy for the Australian Film Commission and NSW Film and Television Office.
PROF. TOBY MILLER
Toby is Profesor Visitante at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and Research Professor in the Graduate Division of the University of California, Riverside. He just concluded three years as Stuart Hall Profesor de Estudios Culturales, Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana—Cuajimalpa, and was a Professor at the UCR for a decade and New York University for twelve years. The author and editor of over fifty books, Toby’s work has been translated into Spanish, Chinese, Portuguese, Japanese, Turkish, German, Italian, Farsi, French, Urdu, and Swedish. His works most relevant to the Festival include A COVID Charter, a Better World (2021), The Persistence of Violence: Colombian Popular Culture (2020), How Green is Your Smartphone? (co-authored, 2020), Greenwashing Culture (2018), Greenwashing Sport (2018), and Greening the Media (co-authored, 2012). His website is www.tobymiller.org.
ELISE PAGE
Elise is the Postgraduate Officer at UEA Students Union, which is an elected, full-time role. Their manifesto has a heavy emphasis on decolonisation and social justice. They are taking a sabbatical year from their PhD, which researches theories of embodiment in Western thought, using 9/11 and the Twin Towers as a case study. The thesis aims to understand the relationship between the human body and its environment. They are also a Norfolk local and have taken part in film projects ranging from ghost stories on rural train journeys to creative documentaries about locals' connection to the river Yare. Elise's involvement with the GFF combines their passion for justice, academic interests, and commitment to local culture to create an event for everyone in Norwich to enjoy.

DR. ABBY KIDD
WEB DESIGNER
Abby has worked with the GFF since 2020 and built its first dedicated website. She recently completed her Doctorate Degree in Film Studies at the UEA, which was funded by the CHASE Doctoral Training Partnership. Abby's research explores the representation of artificial intelligence in film, television and media, and our changing relationships with new technologies.
FESTIVAL CO-ORDINATORS
EDELIZIASTRID GIUDITTI
Edeliziastrid (Lizzy) is a PGT student at UEA in Applied Translation Studies and intern at the 2024 GFF. Graduated in English and Japanese studies in Naples (Italy), her work and study have a focus on feminism, racism and postcolonialism. She is also an LGBTQ+ activist with interest in sustainability and human rights. Winner of the Europe&Youth2021 international contest for the essay 'The path for racial equality in the EU.
DR. ANTONIO DEGOUVEIA
Tony’s interests in environmental film and activism are born from his own postgraduate research in Film Studies at UEA. He has been involved with the GFF@UEA since its initiation, and has fulfilled a number of roles, including, the introduction of films, being a post-screening expert panellist, and leading schools filmmaking and environmental workshops.
DR. MIRIAM KENT
Miriam Kent is a film and media academic with an interest in human rights and cinema. She has researched superhero films as a site of the complex representation of identity issues, and has a further interest in fantasy and science-fiction narratives. She has aided in the successful delivery of GFF for several years and has been a committee member since 2019.
FOUNDER AND FESTIVAL DIRECTOR 2015-2022
DR. CHRISTINE CORNEA
Christine is an Associate Professor at UEA in Film, Television, and Media, with an interdisciplinary research interest in environmental issues. Christine founded the festival and has been the Festival Director since 2016. Christine has recently partnered with the Kalinger Institute of Social Sciences in India, who are launching their Green Film Festival in 2022. Alongside her work for a transdisciplinary Global Challenges Research Fund project called ‘Meeting the Sustainable Development Goals’, Christine has recently produced and directed 15 short documentary films, a number of which directly focus on environmental issues.
