SYNOPSIS

Entirely reclaimed from marshland in the 18th century, the East Anglian fens to this day maintains a precarious balance between natural environment and human activity. But recent modelling has indicated that huge areas of the region could be flooded within 30 years if sea levels continue to rise at current rates. Largely compiled from re-cycled footage, Waterlands tells the story of the fenland region from the point of view of this threatened community at the forefront of climate change in the UK.
